Claire Dorly : La dérangeante diversité des registres de l’ombre
RÉSUMÉ : L’ombre est l’un des concepts emblématiques de la pensée de Jung, que celui-ci décline selon des registres variés. S’il est relativement aisé d’appréhender l’ombre personnelle qui recouvre pratiquement la notion freudienne de refoulé , en revanche il s’avère plus difficile de cerner l’ombre collective. L’auteur propose de distinguer diverses acceptions de l’ombre collective et ébauche l’idée d’une articulation possible entre elles.
ABSTRACT : The shadow is one of the concepts emblematic of Jungian thought, which analyzes it in various registers. Although it is relatively easy to grasp the personal shadow which is quite similar to the Freudian concept of the repressed it is, on the other hand, far more difficult to understand the collective shadow. The author suggests distinctions between various interpretations of the collective shadow, and outlines a method for discovering their inter-relatedness.

RÉSUMÉ : L’auteur s’appuie sur l’étude du processus adolescent pour décrire le décours intrapsychique et intersubjectif de l’expérience consciente et inconsciente de la séparation lors du travail de terminaison de l’analyse. Réactualisation des énergies de la redonne archétypique de l’adolescence, la fin de l’analyse relance sur la scène intérieure projetée dans le champ transférentiel les aspects d’identification, le versant négatif du soi et l’homosexualité.
ABSTRACT : Based on a study of the adolescent process, the author describes a waning phase of the intra-psychic and inter-subjective, conscious and unconscious separation experience during the terminal phase of analysis. As a re-actualization of the energies of the archetypal adolescent reshaping, the end of analysis plays out aspects of identification, the negative side of the self, and homosexuality on the inner stage, projected into the field of transference.

RÉSUMÉ : Au fondement du vivant, un dialogue incessant entre conscience et inconscient. Or, ce dernier n’est pensable qu’en postulant la réalité d’une dissociabilité psychique. Cette hypothèse est le fondement de concepts majeurs de la théorie jungienne tels que le complexe autonome à tonalité affective, la fonction compensatrice de l’inconscient, le symbole, la fonction transcendante. En s’appuyant sur un cas clinique, l’auteur s’intéresse aux aléas du dialogue entre le moi et l’ombre. En effet, s’il est vrai que cette interaction est porteuse de vie, elle n’en est pas pour autant toujours aisée, car elle expose l’individu à l’expérience troublante de sa propre finitude. Le dialogue avec l’ombre peut être particulièrement difficile et dangereux lorsque, le moi étant trop fragile, le soi y occupe une place trop importante, et notamment lorsque sont activées des défenses du soi.
ABSTRACT : An unceasing dialogue between conscious and unconscious is at the source of life. However, such a dialogue is only thinkable if we assume that the parts of the psyche are inseparable. This is the assumption on which the major concepts of Jungian theory are based : for example, the autonomous complex with affective tonality, the compensatory function of the unconscious, the symbol, and the transcendent function. On the basis of a clinical case, the author examines the vicissitudes of the dialogue between the ego and shadow. Indeed, although this interaction is a source of life, it is not always easy, because it exposes the individual to the disturbing experience of his or her own mortality. Dialogue with the shadow can be especially difficult and dangerous when, due to a fragile ego, the self takes up too much space, especially when self-defense mechanisms are activated.

RÉSUMÉ : L’auteur propose en premier lieu une lecture critique des divers textes où Jung a parlé de l’ombre. Il aborde les origines du concept et l’étudie en tant que partie inférieure de la personnalité en le comparant à l’inconscient personnel de Freud. Il l’étudie également en relation avec le clivage et la projection, avec le complexe et l’archétype, avec l’anima/animus et l’inconscient collectif. Il s’interroge sur le problème éthique posé par l’ombre et sur son impact quant à la collectivité. Il traite de ses manifestations dans la psychothérapie, et de son lien avec la fonction transcendante, l’individuation et la totalité. La deuxième partie du texte est consacrée à l’ombre de Jung et de sa psychologie analytique ; l’importance de l’ombre dans toute théorisation est soulignée, particulièrement en sciences humaines. Les rapports entre ombre et conscience discriminante constituent le fil rouge de cet article.
ABSTRACT : The author begins with a critical reading of Jung’s texts on the shadow. He approaches the origins of the concept, and studies it both as a lower part of the personality and in comparison with the individual unconscious of Freud. He also studies the shadow in relation to the processes of splitting-off and projection, with the complex and the archetype, with the anima/animus and the collective unconscious. He wonders about the ethical problem posed by the shadow and the shadow’s impact on the community. The shadow is manifest in psychotherapy and is linked to the transcendent function, individuation, and totality. The second part of the article is dedicated to Jung’s shadow and his analytical psychology, with particular emphasis on the importance of the shadow in any theorization, especially in the human sciences. The relationship between the shadow and the discriminating consciousness is the connective tissue of this article.
